PS5 and PC Single-Player Action Game Lost Soul Aside Delayed 3 Months to Add Polish

by Hannah May 06,2025

Lost Soul Aside, the highly anticipated single-player action game for PC and PlayStation 5, has been delayed by three months, moving its release date from May 30 to August 29, 2025. Developer Ultizero Games made this announcement after the game, which has been in development for nearly a decade, was initially set to launch next month.

In a statement, Ultizero Games expressed gratitude for the positive feedback from the global gaming community since the game's announcement. "We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," the developer stated. They emphasized their commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience, explaining that additional time is needed to polish the game to meet their standards. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."

Originally conceived as a passion project by solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved significantly. It is now a major title under Sony's China Hero Project, with Bing serving as the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio, Ultizero Games. The game's journey from a solo creator's vision to its reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast has generated considerable excitement. Some have likened Lost Soul Aside to a thrilling blend of Final Fantasy characters and Devil May Cry combat, a sentiment that has been evident since Yang Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.

The game features a protagonist named Kesar, who wields a versatile, shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch playstyles. Kesar is accompanied by a dragon-like companion, Arena, who can summon abilities to assist in battles. Drawing inspiration from its predecessors, Lost Soul Aside focuses on aerial dodging, precise timing, combos, and countering, all set within large-scale boss fights. The game's narrative takes players across multiple dimensions, blending a sci-fi premise with contemporary aesthetics. Although the story's direction remains somewhat enigmatic based on trailers, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."

IGN recently had the opportunity to delve deeper into the game's development with Yang Bing, exploring the long and winding road to its launch.
